He married (1) 09 March 1810 Phebe Putnam, born Sutton, MA. She died 15 September 1813 at Douglas, and Elijah married (2) 10 August 1814 Lydia Putnam, cousin of his first wife. She was born 1784 Sutton. Elijah died 28 August 1859 at Douglas.
