The Python- Gator Battle
On Saturday until Sunday, (24
hours) An alligator and 12 foot python battled to a draw in the Everglades
National Park. Jan 12-13, 2003. Below are some pictures from the local
station here, near Miami. They ran headline " Two deadly animals duke it
out in the Everglades"
Chris and I arrived at the Anhinga trail
on Saturday 01/25/2003, and visited with a fellow tourist and photographer.
He asked if we heard about the fight between a good sized alligator and
a twelve foot Python. We were incredulous, but he said they had pictures
at the ranger office. We checked it out, and sure enough, pythons have
invaded the Everglades. Some fool decided to introduce this species into
this unique ecosystem, or maybe it was accidental like the walking catfish
a number of years ago............................ROD 01/27/2003
The last picture of a somewhat larger Python found in the Everglades
about a year ago.
