The Haff-Smith home on the Union Road.
Original owner: Abraham Haff (1792-1881).
Date: ca 1819
In 1819 John Haff deeded part of his farm, probably including the front part
of this building, to his son Abraham. Abraham Haff was a farmer and also
a local circuit preacher. In 1852 he sold his farm to Stephen Keese Smith,
who operated a station for runaway slaves. His place of concealment was in
the barn that still stood on the property in 1970. His heirs owned the farm
until 1947, when Walter Stafford bought it.
