His second marriage was 17 April 1948 to Gertrude Anna Pratt. She was born 06 January 1909 at Utica, New York. They had one son born in Utica New York. Emery Dickenson Bigelow died 31 October 1981 in Utica, New York. Gertrude (Pratt) Bigelow died 16 August 1969 at New Hartford, New York. Also in parentheses for Emery's name is Dickenson (Dickinson).

Obit: Emery D. Bigelow, obituary: "of 9 Flagg St., Whitesboro, and formerly of 72 Root St., New Hartford. Oct. 31, 1981 in St. Elizabeth's Hospital, after a long illness. Graduated from UFA in 1928. Mr. Bigelow was a Certified Dental Technician, owning Band operating his own laboratory in Utica for over 45 years. He was of the Episcopal faith, a member of the Optimist Club of Utica; The Loyal Order of the Moose #450; Little Long Lake Association; and a member of the formal Camel Club of Utica. Survivors are 3 sons, James C. of Whitesboro, Brayton J. of Utica, and Emery D. II of Virginia. Six grandchildren, several nieces and nephews and was predeceased by a brother, Charles in September 1980. Funeral from Elwood T. Day Funeral Home, Inc., State St., at Oneida Square, with Rev. Carlton F. Hilbert Rector of St. John's Episcopal Church officiating. Interment will be in Forest Hill Cemetery [evidently became New Forest Cemetery]. Expressions of sympathy may be made to the Heart Fund or St. John's Episcopal Church Memorial Fund. - - - -

I have been a Society member since August 1998, and have been in correspondence with the Society's Genealogist and Historian, Ms. Jean Legereit, establishing James Calvin's line within the larger family tree (adding four more generations to the Society's records).

Forestport—Brett J. Bigelow, 47, of Woodhull Rd. Passed away unexpectedly on January 9, 2009 at Faxton-St. Luke’s Hospital. Brett was born on April 28, 1961 a son of Brayton Bigelow and Joan Alberico Bigelow. He grew up in Deerfield, NY and graduated from Whitesboro High school in 1979. Brett attended University of Buffalo for two years and graduated from O.C.C. He Married Jenny Lawrence in 2002 in Prospect. Upon graduating from college he was employed at Marcy Psychiatric, and for the past 16 years he was employed at St. Luke’s Hospital as a Physical Therapy Assistant. He was a Deacon at Valley Baptist Church, Schuyler, as well as Superintendant of Sunday School. He also taught Sunday school at Bethel Baptist Church, Prospect. He greatly enjoyed Fishing and Playing Guitar
Brett is survived by his wife Jenny of Forestport; one son Joel Bigelow, Ilion; four daughters and son-in-law, Rebecca & Justin Johannssen, Herkimer; Rachel Bigelow, Ilion; Marissa Lawrence, Beulah Bigelow, both at home; Father Brayton Bigelow, Woodgate; Mother Joan Bigelow, Blossvale; one Brother Brayton & Ann Bigelow, Annapolis, MD.; two sisters Mary & Ronald Jr. McHarris, Blossvale; Marcia & Fred Antonello, Cicero; two grandchildren, Anna Johannssen & Michael Morra. Also surviving are his mother-in-law Nancy Lawrence, Barneveld; three sisters-in-law, Bonnie Lawrence, Barneveld; Amy & Rich Lupia, Poland; and Chrissy Lawrence, Prospect; 13 nieces & Nephews; several Aunts, Uncles, Cousins, and many Friends.
Funeral services will be held Monday January 12 at 4pm at Bethel Baptist Church, Prospect. Calling hours at the church will be 2-4pm prior to the service. Spring interment will be at the White lake Cemetery, Woodgate. In lieu of flowers, please consider donations to the family. Ackley-Mills Funeral Home, Remsen, is entrusted with arrangements.
