Greetings, Rod!
My dad, James Bigelow Smith, Sr., told me that
the first recorded marriage in Watertown, MA was a Bigelow.
Up to this moment, that is the sum total of my Bigelow knowledge.
My dad's father Percy Merrihew Smith was (I believe) the son of
Elizabeth Harwood Bigelow, sister of Gertrude Emmons Bigelow, whom
(Gertrude) I remember seeing as a child at her apartment in Brookline,
MA, courtesy my dad.
As a Civil War enthusiast, I have always
been curious how I am related to one Capt
John Bigelow of the 9th
MA Light Artillery who fought at the Trostle farmhouse on the afternoon
of July 2, 1863 during the battle of Gettysburg.
Suggestions, please.
Many thanks, fellow BIGLO!
Jim Smith
