1622B.7     Harriet Ann Gates, b 04 Nov 1796 Stow; d 19 Sept 1862; m 20 July 1816 Dexter Bruce

Hello all, just joined - and thank you for accepting me.

I believe I can fill out a new, and lost lineage of the Bigelow family, one that is my own. Though I cannot be 100% certain, there do seem to be numerous sources that line up to it being likely. Bigelow Society site shows "Harriet Gates, b 04 Nov 1797 Stow; died unm.", however, I believe this to be incorrect.

Massachusetts Town Clerk records for Stow, show "Harriot and Dexter Bruce, int. July 20, 1816. [Harriet and Hollis Bruce, m. Aug. 11, C.R.]"

There are multiple sources for this, attached to Harriet Ann Gates' FamilySearch.org profile - https://www.familysearch.org/tree/person/details/LV7N-KND (Yes, I always take FamilySearch with a grain of salt, and dig to find more sources to back the claims.)

I'm not sure what the bracketed part actually means in the Clerk records means, but stay with me.

Dexter Bruce is my 4th great-grandfather.

His FindAGrave memorial, #162845975 ( https://www.findagrave.com/memorial/162845975/dexter-bruce ), reads:

"DEXTER BRUCE

....

HARRIET

His wife

Born Nov. 4, 1796

Died Sept. 19, 1862"

The Harriet Gates on the Society page, is listed as DOB of 4 Nov 1797- a year off, possible dual-dating is going on.

Someone, whether correctly or not, has listed his spouse on that page as Harriet Ann Gates Bruce, https://www.findagrave.com/.../162846117/harriet-ann-bruce

If somebody in this group knows of this as being incorrect, please inform me. I'm fine with leaving the group, if it's known that this is not a true lineage.

If this is correct, then this is my full lineage back to Harriet:

I have been reading your Bigelow Family History and I see that you mention Caty Gates and her husband, Jonas Randall. My husband is Jonas Randall's gggreat grandson. They are buried at Riverside Cemetery in Plattsburgh, NY. I was wondering if you knew anything else about Jonas that you might share with us. I have found that they (he and Caty) had a son Francis G (FR. G.), a daughter named Cornelia Bigelow Randall (see below), a daughter named Emeline Randall and a son named Cyrus Randall. Cornelia and Emeline both married Alfords.Cornelia's obituary says that she came from a large family. These are the only children I have been able to find. Do you know any other information about this family?
Thank You, Nancy Randall

Cornelia (Caroline on stone) Bigelow Randall, was born 25 October 1809; died 06 June 1886 and buried in Troy Cemetery, Geauga co, OH (found at find a grave); she married Chester Houghton (b 01 Aug 1807; d 24 Aug 1879) Her name given was Caroline Alford Houghton, so she was married to Unknown Alford first.
