Bruce,
I have used the data from the Bigelow Society
website bigelowsociety.com/rod/joseph4a.htm
I agree that it looks like a 9 on the photo.
www.findagrave.com/cgi-bin/fg.cgi?page=gr&GRid=8029409
I think that the Boylston History has used the year from
the gravestone
so it is not an independent source.
The data on the gravestone is clearly inconsistent. If
1792 is correct
and the age of 78 at death (or worse 70, I cannot tell) would make her
12
(or 4) at the birth of her first child in 1826. Clearly something is
wrong
with the gravestone.
According to the Bigelow site, Joseph made his will
on 25 December 1782
and did not mention his wife who would have been alive if the 1792
death
year is correct. I am guessing, the assumption here is that the stone
mason
has made a mistake on the decade.

Bruce's comment
"the death year in the grave stone photo looks to me like 1792, not
1782.
Would you take a second look when you get a chance? Boylston
History reads
the 3rd digit as 9."
