Joseph 3 BIGELOW
168 Joseph 3 BIGELOW sr,
son of Joshua 2, (John
1), and Elizabeth (FLAGG) BIGELOW, born 29 Dec 1695
in Watertown, Middlesex, MA. He was married apparently, circa 1720, to
Sarah ___ . Howe's Bigelow genealogy does not divulge her name, but from
Weston church records we learn that Joseph BIGELOW and wife Sarah joined
the church in 1726. From the same source we learn that Sarah, wife of Joseph
BIGELOW, died 18 Feb 1755, aged in her fifties. Again in Weston, Joseph
BIGELOW married (2) 10 July 1755 Thankful ROBINSON, daughter of William
ROBINSON of Newton.
On 15 Apr 1758 he made his will, and gave
"unto Sarah daughter of my son Joseph jr late of Weston property which
were mine before my marriage with my marriage with my present wife, but
if Sarah should die before me, then it shall go to Thankful my wife." He
died 6 Jan 1765 at Weston. His widow Thankful married on 5 June 1766, Ezra
GRAVES of Sudbury. He died "suddenly of colic" a few months later, and
Thankful married (3) in 1768 Isaac RICE of Sudbury.
Joseph BIGELOW sr sold a tract of land to
Joseph jr in Weston 6 June 1753; by the land records in Cambridge we learn
that he deeded Joseph jr one-half a farm in Weston with half the buildings
thereon, for 500 pounds, dated 30 May 1755 (apparently dividing property
once held by his late late wife Sarah). On 1 Sept 1755 they further divided
the farm; also in 1760 Joseph and Thankful sold their interest in the estate
of her late father William ROBINSON.
Births of his children were not recorded anywhere
to be found, and infer they took place in the
early 1720's , just before their move to Weston, MA:

jr, died in the 1750's; m (1) 7 May 1747 Lydia WARREN; (2) May

jr and Uriah had a son named Roger; these two Roger BIGELOWS both
served in the Revolution, and in particular were at the Battle of Concord
& Lexington in 1775.)
