I was very excited to find your web site..I had no idea there was
a Bigelow Society!
I am a Bigelow too. Directly descended from John and Jerusha
Garfield Bigelow. I have the entire lineage and would be
happy share it with the society if you want it!
My father was Clifford Wood Bigelow
His parents were Clifford Wood Bigelow and Helen Hoel Bigelow
His grandparents were Oscar and Hattie Parker Bigelow
(by the way your page is missing Oscar's death date ..4-13-1915)
Oscar's parents were Josiah Sanford 7 and Mary
Ann Wood Bigelow (you have her as Woods, which is incorrect)
Josiah Sanford 7 was the son of Josiah 6 and Lucinda 6
(BIGELOW--15194.8) (cousins)
Lucinda 6
was the
daughter of Jotham 5, Jr.
and
Mary Powers Bigelow
Jotham 5, Jr. was
the son
of Jotham 4, Sr.
and
Persis Temple Bigelow
Jotham 4, Sr. was
the son
of John 3 Bigelow and
Jerusha Garfield Bigelow
He was born on 5-9-1675?? and..thats as far back as I can
go!
My father Clifford Wood Bigelow married Joan Ball Bigelow and had
3 children:
Clifford Wood Bigelow, Jr.
Deborah Joan Bigelow
and me..Ellen Parker Bigelow
my brother and sister are both deceased with no children; I have
one child
My father had two brothers, Charles and Josiah Parker Bigelow
Charles has no descendants. Josiah (deceased) had 2 children.
I obtained my information from the lineage research done by a
great aunt when she wanted to join the D.A.R. Jotham Bigelow, Jr.
was apparently a
private for 28 days during the Revolutionary War. Jotham Sr. also
served.
I have the certification of this information from the D.A.R. I
would be
happy to share all that I have with your organization and plan on
sending a check to join it.
Thanks! Ellen Parker Bigelow
PS: Mary Ann Wood Bigelow was supposedly a descendant of
Pergrine White (who came over on the Mayflower) and Sarah
Bassett. I can't find much on them tho..

Here is what I have found on Marianna Bigelow, daughter of Josiah
Sanford Bigelow.
Charles Dunford
44414 Sunset Maple Drive
Ashburn, VA 20147
Buried in the Pine Grove Cemetery in
Whitinsville,
MA, is a Marianne Bigelow, second wife of Arthur J. Clark.
His first
wife Emmeline died in 1881. Marianna died on 7 June 1913 at age
66. This
is the same Marianna Bigelow who married Harding R(ussell) Barber
in Athol
MA on 22 December 1868. The 1880 census for Athol lists Marianne
(age 33)
as a single daughter(divorced?), living wth Josiah S.,Mary Ann,
Ellen and
Francena (age 29). Also in the 1880 Athol census, Harding Barber
is living
with his wife Annie (Clapp) Barber and Annie's unmarried sister
Ada Clapp.
They have a daughter, Mabel (2 years old). There are two sons,
Henry (18)
and Fred (13). He must have had a third wife as both children were
born before
either of the above marriages. In the 1900 Athol census, Harding
Barber is
living with a fourth wife, Alice (Nims). They have two daughters,
Grace and
Helen. Also living with them is Mabel from his prior marriage to
Annie.
