Isaac 6 BIGELOW
1555D.1 Isaac 6
BIGELOW, son of John 5
( Abraham 4, Thomas 3, Samuel
2, John1)
and Lydia (SPRING) BIGELOW, was born circa 1785.
The family settled in Seneca county, NY on leaving Massachusetts. Isaac
married, on 24 January 1812 at Newton, MA, Angeline Prentice. They
lived in Seneca county to 1831, and presumably all their children were
born in the vicinity of Seneca Falls. In 1831 they left for Macon
county, IL, then to Sangamon county, IL, and here
his wife died circa 1833. In 1834 the family moved to Wisconsin, where
he
worked in the lead mines, and died before 1845.

Descendant note:
I am a descendant of Martha
Spring Bigelow, daughter of Isaac
Bigelow and Angeline Prentice. Isaac Bigelow's
parents were
John Bigelow and Lydia Spring. Martha Spring Bigelow married Henry
Schellinger and both lived in Wisconsin. They had a daughter Mary
Ellen Schellinger, my great grandmother. She married John
Cobin Martin from Mains of Craig Hall, Kennethmont, Aberdeenshire,
Scotland. His family came from Scotland in 1852. He was one
of five brothers that were veterans of the Civil War.
I really appreciate all of the information
that you have on the Bigelows. Being in Virginia does not allow
me to research much from Massachusetts. I find that this area has
a lot for people from this area but is extremely limited regarding
other states.
What do you know of a Thomas Warren, settler
of Jamestown, Virginia? I understand that the Mayflower Richard
Warren can not be officially researched to the John Warren Line?
The Schellinger line goes back to the
beginnings of New York state and has a "coat of arms" as well.
Sincerely, Sandra M. Williamson

Stone in the city of Saskatoon,
Saskatchewan, Canada
Mr. George Washington Bigelow died in 1910 in Saskatoon at the age
of 87.
Mr. Bigelow was originally from Palmira, New York. The headstone is of
blue marble on a sandstone base and is quite weathered. The inscription
reads "God's finger touched him and he slept". The text on the east
face of the monument reads:
IN LOVING
MEMORY OF
WASHINGTON
BIGELOW
DIED JAN. 21, 1910
AGED 87 YEARS
The base is carved BIGELOW. There is a book carved at the top of the
pillar and ivy is carved on the sides at the top. Since this photograph
was taken the pillar has been placed back on the base. The name carved
on the base is
facing south while the monument text is facing east.

I so very much appreciate all the work you have done on the Bigelow
families.
I need to help you with your entry on this
family....http://bigelowsociety.com/rod/isa655d1.htm
Their Otis Ware Bigelow died as a child, I believe.
The information you have for him is incorrect ....it is for:
Otis
Bigelow b- 24 Aug 1819 & d- 13 Sept 1877, buried in
Country Corners Cemetery, Clayton County, Iowa.
Son of John (James) & Statira Bigelow.
Husband of Alvina Odessa Deuel, married 1873. She was daughter of
Benjamin and Lorinda (Sabin or Tabin) Deuel and born 10 July 1843 in NY
state. She was previously married to William Gordon, who died 25
Nov 1871. Otis died 13 September 1877 at Putnam township,
Fayette, IA and is buried near Strawberry Point, IA. His widow
died on 05 March 1923 at Madison, IA and is buried at same place
(County Corners Cemetery).

It is odd because Otis Bigelow was born & died in 1877 in Portage,
Iowa, while it is possible that the other Otis Ware Bigelow was born in
Portage, Livingston, New York because it is about 45 minutes away from
Palmyra and Seneca Falls, New York.

More from Dianne:
Nancy Marie Bigelow Love married Andrew Love in Illinois
b- 2 Feb 1814 Seneca Falls, Seneca, New York
d- 27 Nov Mona, Juab, Utah
There is a large monument there now but she was buried with the
headboard of their bed for a marker. She delivered a premature baby boy
at 5 1/2 months and she died 20 minutes later.
Catherine Ann Bigelow b-20 Jan 1826 d- 9 Aug 1856 in Alameda County,
California. She married William Henry Souther 18 Sept 1844 in Moultrie
County, Illinois.
Ellen Augusta Bigelow married Dorus Steven 21 April 1831 in Macon

And the information you have on George Washington Bigelow being buried
in Saskatoon, Saskatchewan, Canada in 1910. How do we know this is his
grave? Was there more information there at the cemetery that would help
identify him? I have been searching for him for a long time.
