Ebenezer 4 BIGELOW


16A1    Ebenezer 4 BIGELOW, son of Ebenezer 3( Joshua2, John1), and Hannah (BROWN) BIGELOW, was born 23 Jan 1721 in Watertown, Middlesex co, MA. He married (1) in Lancaster Oct or Nov 1746 Anna HARRIS, who died at Lancaster 25 Aug 1748, age 29 years, 2 mos, 27 days. Ebenezer then married (2) Dec 1748 Widow Hepsibeh DUFORE, also of Lancaster. Ebenezer was a soldier in the French and Indian War and died on an expedition to Canada between 1755 and late 1757. Inventory of his estate was taken 6 Dec 1758, amounting to £72-6-7, and the widow was appointed to administer the estate. In her account, rendered 24 June 1766, she mentions one living child.

Children of Ebenezer BIGELOW were all born in Lancaster. By first wife, Anna HARRIS:

16A11.       Ebenezer, b 4 Oct 1747; d "13th of year 1748." [As this was on the old Julian calender, one must remember that the first of the year was reckoned as 25 Mar, or Annunciation.].

By second wife, Hepsibeh:

16A12.      Luce (female), b 18 Sep 1749; died next day.

16A13.      Hepsibeh, bapt 6 Oct 1750; d young.

16A14.      Abel, b 7 Dec 1754, probably the child spoken of the mother's account, in 1766. He
                  m in Stow 15 Mar 1779 Sarah Brown, and d 1780. He made his will 13 May 1780; it was proved 5 Jun 1780. He mentioned brother David Dufore [a half-brother?] at Swanzey and wife Sarah, and appointed Capt. Solomon Jewett as executor. Inventory of estate amounted to £5,026-l9-2.
