Galapagos Trip 2006

         I made arrangements to take a tour of old Quito in the afternoon of the 20th. I met a couple of "Brits" at the hotel and they told me they were going to the Cable Car in the morning and would be back in time for my Quito tour. I was not able to go with them on the bus, but I was able to get a taxi and met up with them at the summit. There were beautiful views on this cloudy morning and it was a little cool.
     The "Telefarico" opened in June of 2005. This Quito cable car, reaches half-way up the Pichincha mountain. It is beautiful but very high-- about 14,000 elevation. The base of the cable car station is a mini-mall with some shops and restaurants, and a small amusement park.
