"Dedicated to the Bigelows who helped forge a continent"                     and to Don Bigelow, who helped everyone.

Don Bigelow of Michigan started his Bigelow Family Page about the same time I started this. He quickly outdid my efforts, and became an Official Page of the Bigelow Society. He had been sick with cancer for all the years I have known him, but he never mentioned it once. I wish I had met him in person, but I was fortunate to talk to him on the phone and E-mail. I have met a lot of other people he has helped and encouraged in their genealogy work. They and I will miss him greatly. He has done so much for the Bigelow Society in the last few years, and I have found him to be a gracious helpful friend. Click on Don's Picture for a Picture of Don Bigelow. Query Page  Look and see if you have the information someone is seeking.
Latest Bigelow Society pages on the WWW, most based on recent E-mail.     At the recent Reunion in Oregon, I was appointed to take over Don Bigelow's Official Page and the remainder of his term as one of the directors. I hope I am up to the task. I am now maintaining Don's  Bigelow Family Page so visit there for more information. You can sign my guestbook, to leave comments, or send email to Rod Bigelow  at bigelow@slic.com . You will notice the Index and Bigelow Index above. There are 2 major publications that The Bigelow Society has published over the years: The Bigelow Family Genealogy, Volume I, and Volume II. Volume I was based on Gilman Bigelow Howe's Bigelow Family of America, and covers Generations 1 through 6. Volume II covers Generation 7 through 8 and part of 9th generation. The members of the Society have throughout many years invested their time and more in this research. We hope by publishing this information on the internet, free of charge, and answering any and all requests for further information, to attract more members to our society and more. Part of the more, is more complete information about Bigelows and other familys that we haven't heard from yet. I think the internet is the way of the future and offer this challenge. If you find our ideas and information helpful, please join and/or buy our publications. They are real bargains in this day and age and we promise to continue our research and share with all. Contact me for publication prices and contact our treasurer below to join our organization.
The Bigelow Society holds an annual reunion in different parts of North America every year. A few years ago it was at St. Lawrence University in Canton, NY and my son Jeff and I attended. 1996 Reunion was held in Sault Ste Marie,MI and Don Bigelow's Family Page has pictures. In 1997 it was in Indiana. In 1998 it was in Bend, Oregon, and I attended. It was held on August 7-9, at Central Oregon Community College, and the 1999 Reunion was held in Hamburg, NY, just south of Buffalo. Don Bigelow of Michigan, also had published detailed information on The Bigelow Society, which I will maintain and update.
The Bigelow Society is a non-profit organization incorporated in the State of Michigan with Helena ROTH as resident agent and Asst. Treasurer. Any person making an annual $20. contribution will become a member in good standing and receive the FORGE (a quarterly publication of the Bigelow Society) for one year.

I have hoped through these pages to attract more interest and membership in the Society. We welcome not only Bigelows, but all who are interested in their roots and in genealogy research. The Society believes that all Bigelows (and variations of the name) are directly descended from the union of John Biglo (1616/17-1703) and Mary Warren (1624 -1691) of Watertown, MA. For a look at one of my ideas, go to John Biglo link now. I have links to all six generations of  Bigelows. The index is complete to the sixth generation. I have also started a History page with historical information that I have uncovered in my genealogy search.
